Mike and Jesse do not know. Not about the party, not about this website, not about any of it. Please keep it that way: nothing in any group chats, nothing on social media, no hints — straight faces until you see them both at the lake!
If asked about the weekend of August 14th, you have plans. Boring ones, elsewhere. Do not elaborate.

Mike and Jesse were born in the summer of 1986, which makes this their fortieth at the lake, and we are not letting that pass quietly. This year we are gathering at the lake for three days of fun on the water, food someone else is cooking, and the people who have known them the longest.
Your responsibilities are few: show up, get in the lake at least once, and keep it a surprise.

The Inn is where it has always been, at the end of the road you already know. Flying in: Manchester is about fifty minutes, Boston about two hours, and there is room in the driveway. If you get lost, follow the loons. They have never once missed a summer.
Everyone is placed at the Gork Inn or just across the way at Stone’s Throw. Your assignment will be waiting when you arrive, so pack light and leave the logistics to us.
An easy first day at the Gork Inn. It opens at 11 with a welcome lunch — say “surprise” to your favorite twins: Mike behind the grill, Jesse holding court over the fixings. Dinner is at five with a full BBQ spread from Rubbin’ Butts, and it doubles as a birthday: Pippa Thomas turns five, and we intend to make a fuss. S’mores for the kids once the day cools; for everyone else, drinks at the Sandbar.
The Gork Inn has hosted more than a few Sacknoff summer ragers in its day — heavy on beer and fireworks, light on supervision — so bring your best stories down to the Sandbar on Friday night and compare notes. No speeches. Find your room, find the water, find a drink, in whatever order suits you.
Casual · come as you areThe morning is yours — sleep in without apology (for those of you who can). Leftovers Lunch is out from 11, whenever you happen to surface. The afternoon belongs to the water: boat rides, a gas run for anyone willing, tubing, lawn games, a scavenger hunt for the kiddos, and some lightly researched TWINVIA (trivia, twins, you get it).
The main event moves across the way to Stone’s Throw as the sun goes down. Be there in costume at 5pm, ready for apps, cocktails, and a slow lap of costume appreciation. At 6pm, seated dinner, followed by the roast & toast and as many stories as the night can hold (brief interlude for bedtime; the rest of you MUST carry on). Mosquitos not welcome.

Leave when you must, or stay through Monday if the lake makes its case. It usually does. And if you haven’t already, this is the day to try the coffee at Stone’s Throw.
Note: field trips are fully sanctioned all weekend — mini golf at Pirate’s Cove, spend your life savings at the Weirs Beach penny arcade, and hit the Tamarack if you need a light lobster roll or two in between meals (zero judgment here).

Friday and Sunday, whatever you wore to the lake is correct. Saturday night is another matter: not the eighties in general, 1986 in particular, the summer the twins arrived. Come dressed for the year at large,* or commit to a character. A partial menu of what 1986 actually gave us:
Mike’s favorite movie! Aviators, a flight suit, a name tape with your call sign (you know you have one).
Jesse’s favorite! *Technically 1993 — grandfathered by the birthday girl herself. Mickey will dress as The Beast.
Leopard vest, beret, borrowed-Ferrari confidence. Sloane’s fringe jacket counts.
NOT the Jaden Smith version — the one where Daniel goes to Japan. Headband required, crane stance optional.
Homemade prom dress energy. Duckie devotees welcome.
Denim, white tees, Converse, a comb in the back pocket.
Gray sweatsuit and a headband, or go full Drago. Training-montage energy mandatory.
Cargo, dog tags. Flamethrowers encouraged.
When in doubt: denim, neon, Wayfarers, and confidence. Prizes are not promised, but judgment is.
For the record: The Goonies is 1985 and has been grandfathered in by unanimous family vote. Goonies never say wrong year.
A short list. The lake supplies most of the rest.
The days are built for them to enjoy, between the floaties, games, and s’mores on demand. Dinner is at five, so everyone starts the evening under the tent, and the night simply sheds guests youngest-first from there. Monitors will be running and a sitter will be on hand for the smallest.
It is heavy on 1986. Press play on the drive up so you arrive in character, and rest assured the aux under the tent will be well managed.

It takes no reservations from strangers, files no paperwork, and has nonetheless been operating every summer since it looked like a barn. It simply never had a website. Now it does. Look around before Friday: the homepage, the Sandbar, the Lake Report, the Camp Store’s tragic inventory. Entertaining everyone except Mike and Jesse is the point.
One assignment before you arrive: by August 7, every household leaves one memory and one old photo of the twins in the guestbook. It fills the book they will open on Friday, and it feeds the roast.
This shoreline has hosted a lot of good weekends.
